CuraMoneta is a free suite of personal-finance calculators built around a simple idea: the pieces of your financial life are connected, so the tools that model them should be too. Income, mortgage, transport, debt, taxes, insurance, savings, investing, and budget — each works on its own, but they share the numbers you enter, adding up to a single command center instead of nine disconnected tabs.

Why it exists

It started with a mortgage calculator.

I wanted to run some numbers on a house. What I found instead was a web full of calculators that wanted an email address before they would show a result. Or a phone number. Or a “let us connect you with a lender.” You enter your figures, and it turns out the real product is you — your contact details, passed along to whoever is buying leads that week.

I did not want a relationship with a lender. I wanted arithmetic.

So I built the calculator I had been looking for: no account, no email, no lead form, nothing to sign up for. Then I wanted to see that mortgage against my actual take-home pay, so I built that. Then transport, debt, taxes, insurance, savings, investing. Then a budget to hold them all together, because planning meant comparing scenarios rather than checking one number in isolation. Nine calculators later, it had become the thing I went looking for in the first place.

I still use it. I still add to it when something I need is missing.

Who builds it

My name is David A. Wade — Andrew, to people who know me. I have worked in IT since 1997: infrastructure first, then software development, and today as a Solutions Architect.

I am not a Certified Financial Planner, an accountant, or a licensed advisor, and nothing on this site is advice. What I bring is nearly thirty years of building systems that have to be correct, and very little patience for numbers nobody checked.

How the numbers get checked

This is the part I care most about.

Every formula in every calculator is verified computationally before it ships — not eyeballed, not trusted because the output looked plausible. A $400,000 mortgage at 6.52% over 30 years produces a principal-and-interest payment of $2,533.54, and that figure was confirmed independently before the page went live. Every calculator here has been through that same check.

Seeded defaults and the figures quoted in the guides come from primary sources rather than from other websites:

• Filing status, deductions, and bracket thresholds — IRS Publication 501 and the current IRS forms and instructions
• Mortgage rate benchmarks — the Freddie Mac Primary Mortgage Market Survey
• Cost and duration benchmarks — published Bureau of Labor Statistics data

When a number here is an estimate, the page says so and shows the assumption behind it. When it is a hard figure from a published source, the source is named. If something looks wrong to you, tell me — corrections take priority over features.

How it is built

I build these tools with AI assistance, and I would rather say so plainly than leave you to wonder.

The ideas, the requirements, and the judgment are mine. I decide what each tool has to do, direct how it gets built, and personally test every calculator and read every page before it publishes. AI is how I research, draft, and implement faster than one person otherwise could, and I am glad to have it.

What does not happen is publishing something unchecked. No figure reaches this site because a model produced it. Formulas are confirmed computationally and figures are checked against the sources above before anything ships. That verification step is the whole point, and it is mine.

What CuraMoneta does not do

• No accounts. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to log into.
• No data collection. The figures you enter stay in your own browser, on your own device, and are never transmitted anywhere. The privacy policy spells out exactly what that means.
• No lead generation, affiliate deals, or referral commissions. Nobody pays to be recommended here, because nothing is recommended.
• No selling your information, because there is none to sell.

The site is intended to be supported by ordinary display advertising — clearly marked, and never in exchange for your data.

The name

“CuraMoneta” joins two Latin words: cura, meaning care or stewardship, and moneta, money. The careful stewardship of one’s money — that is the goal, and the standard I hold the tools to.

Other things I have built
